Thailand - TSUNAMI RELIEF PROJECT

In cooperation with Andaman Discoveries Project, we invite you to experience untouched Thailand on a customized community-based tour. It is a part of their post-tsunami recovery, villagers have opened up their homes and lives to allow you to experience their fascinating cultures and communities, in an authentic and non-intrusive way.

Day 1 Bangkok
night train to Surat Thani (-/-/-) Participants should contact prior to departure for orientation of the project then transfer in the afternoon to the railway station for the air-conditioned night train to Surat Thani. Remark: Program can be adjusted for those willing to start the trip in Phuket.

Day 2 Surat Thani – Takua Pa –Kuraburi -
Tung Nang Dam Village (-/-/D) You will arrive Surat Thani in the morning where you can find many good restaurants for your own breakfast then transfer to Khao Lak. After meeting the staff at the project site in Kuraburi drive through lush mountainous terrain and sleepy fishing villages to pier. Ride a long-tail boat deep into the dense mangroves towards the village. Stroll through peaceful orchards of Tung Nang Dam village to the homestay After meeting the host family take a tour around the village to learn about a traditional village life Homestays are an opportunity to experience genuine hospitality wiht authentic warmth welcome. It’s often the highlight of many people’s trip, a chance to really engage with the locals and host family

DAYs 3-6 Tung Nang Dam Village -
Ban Talae Nok village (B/L/D) You will have a few days to learna and use your skills to help the villagers. You will also stay at another homestay named Ban Talae Nok village to experience life in a Muslim community. Join their handmade soap workshop. You will witness how these ladies rebuilt their lives after the tsunami, with the help of handicrafts Volunteer or fieldtrip opportunities There are a number of volunteer opportunities and fieldtrips available in the communities. Past projects have included mangrove reforestation, teaching English and making community information boards. Volunteer projects are dependent on skills and time commitment. If groups or individuals can raise funds, suitable projects can be located and organized.

Day 7 Kuraburi -
After farewell to the kind host and villagers, you will have a transfer to Khao Lak or Phuket. Remark: Our services end at after the transfer which you can choose either going back to Bangkok or continue your beach journey in Khao Lak or Phuket.
